CITY OF ILAGAN, ISABELA – The National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) in Cagayan Valley seized more than 500 kilograms of “unsafe, unclean and non-inspected” poultry and frozen meat here.
Rolando Ongsotto, director of NMIS-Cagayan Valley, on Monday said they also seized tainted meat in Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Tuguegarao City and other public markets in the region in a series of operations since last week.
He said the meat retailers did not have sanitary permits and business documents.
Ongsotto said that NMIS has been regularly inspecting poultry and swine products in the region to ensure food safety and sanitation. / gsg
