Man, knocked out in crash, arrested for breaking gun ban in Palawan

CITY OF CALAPAN – A man, who was knocked unconscious after crashing his motorcycle, was arrested in Puerto Princesa City in Palawan province for violating the election gun ban, police said Monday.

Suspect Joey Saban, 41, accidentally crashed his motorcycle in Barangay (Village) Bancao-Bancao on Sunday night and fell unconscious, said Supt. Socrates Faltado, acting Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) police information officer.

A concerned citizen reported the incident to the police, who then responded to the scene.

As Saban was unconscious on the ground, policemen noticed a loaded caliber .45 pistol about a meter away from him.

Faltado said a magazine with six bullets was also recovered from Saban.

At the hospital, moments after Saban regained consciousness, police arrested him for violation of election gun ban. /kga
