ORMOC CITY— Rescuers recovered Monday the body of a 15-year-old girl, who went missing while swimming in a resort here during a birthday party a day before.

The fatality was identified as Jessa Mae de Paz, resident of Sante Fe, Leyte. She was with her relatives to celebrate the 60th birthday of Sylvia Suyom at Caunte Resort Barangay Bislig, Tanuan town, Leyte on Sunday.

But the girl was swept by big waves while swimming, said Chen Anthony Salva, one of the members of the rescue group.

He said they immediately went on a search and rescue operation after receiving word about the missing girl.

Salva said a fisherman informed them on Monday morning about a body found in the waters around 6:45 a.m. It turned out to be the missing teenager, he added. /kga
