The ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) will bank on the popularity of its campaign manager, Sen. Manny Pacquiao, and party chair, President Duterte, to court voters during the campaign.
Sen. Aquilino Pimentel III, PDP-Laban president, also said candidates of the party would adjust to the schedules of Pacquiao and Mr. Duterte.
According to Pimentel, the PDP-Laban’s senatorial candidates would not always campaign together.
But they would be together whenever there is an event that Pacquiao or the President would attend, he said in a radio interview.
“That is why that is our priority,” Pimentel said over radio station dwIZ.
“Whatever their schedule is, that is what we would join,” he said.
The rest of the time, each candidate would visit areas where he needed to boost his profile, Pimentel added.
He also said that PDP-Laban candidates would join the initial rally of Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) in Pampanga province on Feb. 12.
HNP is Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s regional party, which has endorsed its own list of senatorial candidates.
