9 arrested for indiscriminate firing in Malate, Manila

MANILA, Philippines — Nine persons, including two minors, were arrested for indiscriminately firing a gun in Malate, Manila, Thursday morning.

Police identified the suspects as Anjo Padilla, 27; Jeffrey Mendoza, 32; Luilius Doliente, 30; Maryjay Dominguez, 29; S7-Buecan Morillo, 23; Wendell de Guzman, 24; Marc Senez, 21; and two minors.

Police said they responded to a call from a concerned citizen informing them of indiscriminate firing in the area at around 5:40 a.m.

After conducting an investigation, the police arrested the suspects and brought them to the Malate Police Station for further investigation.

Malate Police Acting chief Police Supt. Bobby Glenn told INQUIRER.net that they recovered only one 9-caliber Glock and tested the suspects for paraffin to determine who among them was the shooter.

The police also found 12 empty bullet shells, which meant the suspects fired indiscriminately at least 12 times, Glenn said.

No one was reported hurt from the incident, but Glenn said the police the investigation will continue.

Glenn said the police would file charges of alarm and scandal and and for violation of the Omnibus Election Code once they have determined who among the suspects fired the shots. /ee
