DID YOU KNOW: 126th birth annivesary of Nicanor Abelardo

Today, Feb. 7, is the 126th birth anniversary of music professor and composer Nicanor Abelardo.

He finished his conservatory in music degree at the University of the Philippines.

He composed numerous wellknown “kundiman,” including “Nasaan Ka Irog,” “Bituing Marikit” and “Mutya ng Pasig.”

He died on March 21, 1934.

The main theater of the Cultural Center of the Philippines in Pasay City was named after him. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
