CARMEN, NORTH COTABATO — A farmer and political committee officer of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) was killed by two unidentified gunmen in Sitio Campo, Barangay Malapag here on Wednesday morning.
Case investigator PO3 Mark John Penaso, of the Carmen municipal police station, said Ibrahim Kumadtog, 50, a resident of Sitio Selangan in the same barangay, was ambushed while aboard his motorcycle.
Kumadtog was with his son and grand daughter, who both sustained gunshot wounds from the shooting, according to Datuan Panolimba, an MILF officer and relative of the victims.
Panolimba, director of the committee of information of MILF’s Kapalawan provincial committee, told the Inquirer Kumadtog was a political committee officer of the MILF.
“Relatives of the victims immediately brought them to a hospital in Kibawe town, Bukidnon province where the elder Kumadtog was declared dead on arrival,” Penaso said.
Penaso said police authorities are looking into rido or clan feud as the possible motive behind the killing.
“The gunmen were standing along the road wearing bonnet when they fired upon the victims,” Penaso said. /kga
