5.5-magnitude quake shakes Pangasinan
MANILA, Philippines – A 5.5-magnitude earthquake jolted inland Pangasinan on Wednesday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In its updated earthquake bulletin, the Phivolcs said the temblor struck 6 kilometers (km) southeast of Aguilar, Pangasinan, at 6:25 p.m.
Phivolcs downgraded the quake from magnitude 5.6.
It had a depth of 137 km and was of tectonic origin.
The quake was felt at intensity V in Villasis, Pangasinan, intensity IV in Baguio City, intensity II in Subic, Zambales, Pasay City, Manila, Mandaluyong City and Quezon City.
Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, instrumental intensity III was registered in Olongapo City and Dagupan City, instrumental intensity II in Malolos, Bulacan; Guagua, Pampanga and Baguio City and instrumental intensity I in Laoag City, Pasuquin in Ilocos Norte and San Ildefonso, Bulacan.
Aftershocks could be expected from the quake, Phivolcs said, but no damage could be expected. #
