Family of 3 hurt in Quezon shooting

LUCENA CITY – A family of three, including a two-year-old boy, were wounded after being shot in Sariaya town in Quezon province Tuesday night, police said.

Supt. Julio Go, Sariaya police chief, said in a report that Manuel Manese, 35; his wife Annaliza, 39, and son Anthony, were shot by a still unidentified assailant while they were inside their shanty in a remote part of Barangay Guis-Guis around 7:30 p.m.

Police said the couple was having a conversation while their son was already sleeping when the gunman who was outside, fired at the victims.

Manuel suffered bullet wounds in his abdomen and left arm, while Annaliza’s left foot was also hit. Their son suffered a bullet wound in his left arm.

The victims were rushed to the Quezon Medical Center in Lucena City by fellow villagers.

Investigators found four spent shells from a caliber .45 pistol from the crime scene.

Go said the shooting was not an attempted massacre based on their initial investigation.

“The target was only the father due to a personal grudge,” he said in a phone interview. He said the wife and son were just accidentally hit. /lzb
