MANILA, Philippines — Northern Samar was hit by a 4.6-magnitude earthquake on Monday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In its initial earthquake bulletin, Phivolcs reported that the temblor hit 73 kilometers (km) northeast of Laoang, Northern Samar, at 8:32 a.m.
The quake was tectonic in origin and was 6 km deep.
No aftershocks or damage could be expected from the temblor, Phivolcs said. /je
