2 dead in Laguna buy-bust, drugs worth P47k seized

SAN PEDRO CITY — Two suspected illegal drug pushers were killed in separate anti-drug operations in Laguna province.

In Biñan City, Alex Gayoba, a resident of Barangay (village) Canlalay, died in a shootout with the police in Barangay dela Paz around 3 a.m. Saturday.

Laguna police chief Sr. Supt. Elezar Matta, in a text message, said Gayoba was a known drug dealer in the community and was included in the police’s watch list.

Gayoba allegedly sold a sachet of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) to an undercover policeman.

Police later found 19 sachets more in his sling bag recovered from the scene.

Police said the suspect carried about seven grams of suspected shabu worth about P47,600.

In the adjacent city of Sta. Rosa, Rocky Trinidad was also slain in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tagapo around 9:30 p.m. Friday.

Police said both suspects fired their guns in an attempt to escape arrest, forcing law enforcers to shoot them down.

The operations were carried out as part of the Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement campaign of the Laguna police that started past midnight on Friday. Maricar Cinco/lzb
