Lending firm manager slain in Pangasinan road crash

DAGUPAN CITY —— A manager of a lending firm was killed on Thursday night after his motorcycle rear-ended a parked cargo truck in San Jacinto town in Pangasinan, police said on Friday.

Severino Dacanay, 34, manager of his own lending firm, died while he was being taken to a hospital here, said SPO3 Noel Mabalot, San Jacinto police investigator.

Dacanay was on the southbound lane of the road in Barangay Sta. Maria in San Jacinto when he crashed into the truck at 8:14 p.m.

He suffered severe head and body injuries.

Mabalot said a motorcycle rider, Glonard Mel Salcedo, 31, who was following Dacanay at that time, was hurt when his motorcycle slid on the road.

Salcedo, who works as Dacanay’s collector, may have panicked when he saw Dacanay’s motorcycle crash, prompting him to abruptly step on his brakes, said Mabalot. Gabriel Cardinoza/lzb
