CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The United Kingdom-based Official Aviation Guide (OAG) has given Clark International Airport (CRK) a two-star rating for On-Time Performance (OTP), an airport official said on Friday.

Jaime Melo, president of the state-owned Clark International Airport Corporation, said the CRK is the only airport in the Philippines to bag the OAG rating, which recognizes flight punctuality performance.

CRK was rated 71/3 percent from June 2017 to May 2018. The rating, according to Melo, was a proof of “Clark competency in providing exceptional air services.”

The Philippine government, through Ciac, has been operating the 2,300-hectare CRK in the last 24 years.

The centerpiece of the Clark Aerotropolis was rebuilt from the Military Air Command of the United States’ 13th Air Force, which pulled out in 1991 on the heels of the Philippine Senate’s rejection of the extension of the 1947 PH-US Military Bases Agreement.

Melo said OTP ratings for airports are measured by the number of departures and arrivals that take place in less than 15 minutes after scheduled departure or arrival times, including cancellations.

At least 714 domestic and international flights go through CRK weekly, serving around 11,500 passengers daily./lzb
