MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has ordered government agencies and local government units to support the Philippine Sea Games organizational committee to ensure the country’s “smooth and efficient’ hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games).
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed Memorandum Circular No. 56 on January 25, which was released only to the media on Wednesday.
Medialdea said “the successful organization and hosting of the 30th SEA Games requires the involvement, coordination, and support of concerned government agencies, the different national sport associations and the private sector.”
The Palace official ordered the Philippine Sports Commission, the Philippine Olympic Committee and all the concerned national sports associations “to coordinate and support each other for the effective preparation and successful participation of the Philippine delegates in the 30th SEA Games and all preparatory and relevant competitions.”
All other departments, bureaus, agencies and instrumentalities of the government, including government -owned or -controlled corporations, and state universities and colleges, Medialdea said “are hereby directed to render full support and assistance, consistent with their respective mandates, to the Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee in the preparatory activities for the Philippines’ hosting of the 30th SEA Games including, among others, procurement of necessary materials and equipment, provision of support services, and acceptance of donations, in accordance with existing laws, rules and regulations.”
He said “local government units, non-government organizations, the private business sector, educational institutions and the general public, are hereby encouraged to lend their cooperation and support to ensure the successful conduct of the SEA Games.” /jpv
