Duterte OKs promotion of MPD's Danao to chief superintendent rank

MANILA, Philippines—President Rodrigo Duterte has approved the recommendation to promote Manila Police District (MPD) director Senior Supt. Vicente Danao, Jr. to the next police rank of chief superintendent.

Duterte signed Danao’s promotion to chief police superintendent, Brigadier general in military ranks, last Jan. 21. A copy of his promotion paper was shared with the media on Friday.

Before serving as MPD chief, Danao served as deputy chief for operations of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG). Before this, he served as Davao City police chief alongside then mayor Duterte until 2016.

Meanwhile, promoted to senior superintendent rank were Albert Larubis, Rastatuto Mendoza Padilla, Roy Bardelosa Parena, Aden Tupas Lagradanta, and Isagani Abutal Fetizanan.
