Yes wins in Tawi-Tawi

ZAMBOANGA CITY—Tawi-Tawi voted Yes to ratify the Bangsamoro Organic Law, with at least two towns registering zero for No votes at the conclusion of the canvassing late Wednesday afternoon.

Of the 670 clustered precincts, the Yes garnered 151,788 votes while No got 9,907 votes, said Lawyer Roberto de la Peña, chairperson of the Provincial Plebiscite Board of Canvassers.

He said they had successfully canvassed 11 towns, including far-flung islands.

Two towns, the municipality of Languyan and South Ubian registered zero for No.

Dela Peña said of the 209,710 registered voters in the province, only 161,823, or 77 percent, actually voted.

“It is peaceful here,” Dela Peña said. “The good thing is there was no reported incident of violence or intimidation.” He said the canvassed results would be delivered manually to Cotabato City on Thursday./lzb
