MANILA, Philippines — Messages poured in for the country’s wealthiest man Henry Sy Sr. who was to be laid to rest on Thursday at the Heritage Park in Taguig City.
A Requiem Mass was also simultaneously officiated in all SM malls nationwide on Thursday.

“#ThankYouTatang” made it to the top Twitter trends in the Philippines with many supporters sending their messages to the mall magnate.
One netizen with Twitter handle @jeahcallo expressed admiration to Sy, saying “Every time our teachers asked us about the people whom we look up to, Henry Sy always earned the first spot. You will always be remembered, Tatang. #ThankYouTatang.”

Sy, 94, died “peacefully in his sleep” last Saturday, Jan. 19.
