P1.5 M shabu, guns seized from 3 suspects in Bulacan checkpoint
DONYA REMEDIOS TRINIDAD, BULACAN—Shabu (crystal meth) worth P1.5 million were seized from three suspects at a Commission on Elections checkpoint in Barangay (village) Pulong Sampalok at 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 23), the Bulacan police said.
The 210 grams of contraband was found in a Mitsubishi Lancer driven by Joselito Isidro, 30. Florinda Alipio, 46, and Jerome Jay Nino Maguisa Silverio, 26, were in the same vehicle.
The vehicle was flagged down when policemen and soldiers manning the checkpoint saw Isidro driving without any upper garments.
They found an Ingram Machine Pistol tucked in the driver’s seat, prompting a search of the vehicle that uncovered a bag containing six plastic sachets of shabu and a caliber 9mm handgun.
The three suspects will be charged for possession and transport of illegal narcotics and for possessing weapons during a gun ban imposed for this year’s midterm elections. Carmela Reyes-Estrope/lzb
