The Philippine Sports Commission was created by Republic Act 6847 signed on Jan. 24, 1990 by President Corazon Aquino.
One of its forerunners was the Philippine Amateur Athletic Federation established in 1911 when the country was still under American rule.
In 1974, then President Ferdinand Marcos established the Department of Youth and Sports Development.
The commission’s administrative building is located at Rizal Memorial Complex on Pablo Ocampo Sr. Street in Malate, Manila. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
