Finance chief admits he was molested by priest in high school

MANILA, Philippines — Finance Chief Carlos Dominguez III has admitted that he was also molested by a priest in high school.

Dominguez revealed this over CNN Philippines’ One-on-One with Finance Chief, noting that the tragic experience was “regrettable.”

When asked to comment on President Rodrigo Duterte’s allegation that he was molested by a priest in high school, Finance Chief Carlos Dominguez III said: “That was experienced by many of us.”

“He [Duterte] is completely right. It happened and I think it is very regrettable, but it wasn’t just him or me, it was a lot of us in that class,” Dominguez, the President’s classmate at the Ateneo de Davao University, said on Wednesday.

Previously, Duterte confessed in a speech that he stopped being Catholic because he was allegedly molested by a priest.

“Something terrible happened when we were young. It’s not really that serious. While confessing, we were being fondled,” Duterte said.

“So when I graduated, I was no longer a Catholic. I was no longer a Catholic at that age. I was not even in politics then,” he added.

Dominguez said he felt bad about the incident, but he “got over it.”

“We talk about it now… and say it’s too bad it happened, but you know, we’ll get over it,” he said. /ee
