NIA engineer slain in Maguindanao ambush
COTABATO CITY—An official of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) based in Midsayap, North Cotabato was killed in an ambush in Maguindanao Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Police Chief Inspector Erwin Tabora, Datu Montawal, Maguindanao, identified the victim as Engr. Joseph Adam, 50, a resident of Kabacan, North Cotabato.
Adam worked as the NIA engineer assigned at the Malitubog-Maridagao Irrigation Project with field office in Pikit, North Cotabato.
Adam, former municipal engineer of Datu Montawal, was driving his gray sedan car heading for home when ambushed at past 5 p.m.
Initial police investigation showed that the two suspects were seen tailing Adam’s car when one of them pulled a cal. 45 pistol and opened fire on the victim.
Police said Adam, who was traveling alone, suffered multiple bullet wounds in the head and body, killing him instantly.
