MANILA, Philippines — Two robbery suspects were killed in an encounter with the police in Quezon City Monday night, shortly after allegedly robbing a shop selling car parts and accessories.
According to police, prior to the shootout, two armed men entered the shop in Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon in Novaliches at around 3:27 p.m. on Monday and divested customers of their cellphones and an undetermined amount of cash.
Police said the location of the suspects were later traced to Barangay Gulod through the location service in one of the stolen cellphones.
Operatives of the Novaliches Police Station then launched a follow-up operation and verified that the two suspects matched the descriptions given by the victims..
Instead of yielding however, police said the suspects drew their guns and opened fire at the operatives, triggering the shootout at around 11:30 p.m. Police said the two unidentified suspects died on the spot.
Recovered from the suspects were a caliber 9 mm pistol, a caliber .38 revolver, a motorcycle, three cellphones, and various drug paraphernalia. /muf
