1,700 passengers stranded in Sorsogon, Masbate

LEGAZPI CITY—Close to 1,700 passengers were stranded in the ports of Sorsogon and Masbate provinces after the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ordered the suspension of trips on Monday because of Tropical Depression “Amang.”

The suspension came after the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration placed both provinces under signal number one.

The PCG said 1,468 passengers were stranded at the Matnog port; 40 in Bulan; and 15 in Pilar, all in Sorsogon.

There were also 24 buses, 199 trucks, and 41 cars at the Matnog port.

In Masbate City, the PCG said 155 passengers were stranded as of 2 p.m., while 20 others were stranded in Cataingan Port./lzb
