Two killed in road accident in Caloocan City

MANILA, Philippines – Two men were killed after a speeding vehicle hit them along Quirino Highway in Caloocan City late Sunday night, police said Monday.

A report from the Caloocan City Police Station (CPS) said the accident occurred at about 11:40 p.m. while the victims were on the roadside.

Mike Martines, 22, was sitting on his parked motorcyle and Felix Esperanzate, 48, was changing the tire of his jeep when a Toyota Hi Ace crashed into them.

Both Martines and Esperanzate were reportedly dragged after the collision which resulted in their immediate death.

Police said all vehicles were damaged, but they were still estimating the amount of damage incurred.

The driver of the Toyota Hi Ace, William Abelta, 40, is under the custody at the Station Traffic Accident Investigation Unit of the Northern Police District, police said. /cbb
