Politicians sponsor free live viewing of Pacquiao-Broner bout

DAVAO CITY — Local officials and politicians in Davao del Norte will sponsor free mass viewing of the WBA welterweight title bout between Sen. Manny Pacquiao and American fighter Adrien Broner on Sunday.

The office of Rep. Antonio “Tonyboy” Floirendo Jr. office announced it would help set up huge screens in gymnasiums so people in the 2nd district could watch the live telecast of the bout.


In Tagum City, Gov. Antonio Rafael del Rosario and his slate under the Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) invited on social media their constituents for a free viewing of the fight at the 3,000-seat RDR Gym in Barangay Mankilam.

The city government of Tagum under Mayor Allan Rellon would also sponsor free live telecast at the New City Hall atrium as well as provide free snacks for those who would pack the 3,000-seater venue, the city information office said.

Similar politician-sponsored screening venues were also up in the 11 towns of neighboring Compostela Valley province. /atm
