MANILA, Philippines – Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Oscar Albayalde welcomed on Friday the positive remarks of Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena on the government’s drive against illegal drugs.
“This is another validation of the soundness of the government’s strategy in dealing with the problem of illegal drugs,” Albayalde said in a statement.

“The PNP, being at the forefront of this campaign, is humbled by this unexpected commendation by no less than a head of state,” Albayalde said.
Sirisena will visit the headquarters of the PNP in Camp Crame on Saturday, Jan. 19, the last of his five-day state visit to the country.

He will be shown photos of scenes from actual anti-illegal drugs operations, according to the PNP.
Sirisena will be welcomed in the camp by Interior Secretary Eduardo Año and Albayalde. He will be accorded full state honors on his arrival.
