The Philippine Azkals ended their one-week team bonding in Cebu and is set to return to Manila today.
The Azkals had their busiest day yesterday, which started with a training under the scorching heat of the sun at the Aboitiz Sportsfield in Mandaue. After the training, they had lunch at the Marriott Hotel hosted by the Cebu Football Association (CFA).
Afterwards, CFA president Richard Montayre accompanied the team to the Cebu Provincial Capitol to pay a courtesy call to Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia.
The team then proceeded to The Terraces at the Ayala Cebu Mall for a meet-and-greet with the fans.
The team answered some questions from their fans and did some drills.
Azkals media coordinator Jose Gregorio “Jogie” Ronda said it was a hectic week for the team. But he siad the trip to Cebu helped in making the team stronger.
“It was a success despite other members missing the activity. The team has bonded more, they now know each other better,” Ronda said.
On their return to Manila, the team will immediately embark on a more intensive training in preparation for their World Cup Qualier first leg match against Sri Lanka on June 29 in Manila.
