MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will be deploying at least 250 personnel to ensure the smooth flow of traffic during the visit of Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena.
MMDA Edsa Traffic Head Bong Nebrija said the traffic enforcers would be coming from different traffic agencies.
They are also expected to monitor the traffic situation along the areas where the Sri Lankan President would pass.
The MMDA advised the public to expect a stop-and-go scheme starting Tuesday evening (January 15) and until Saturday (January 19) in some areas where Sirisena’s vehicle convoy would pass.
The following roads will be affected by the stop-and-go scheme: the airport area in Pasay City, and the roads in the Makati business district, Pasig commercial district, Manila, and Quezon City.
Traffic will be ordered to come to a full stop when Sirisena’s convoy passes by, but it will be allowed to proceed immediately after the convoy passes through.
Sirisena is expected to arrive in the country on Tuesday night at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3. /ee
