Baby’s head left in womb in freak accident while being born
Two male nurses are the subject of controversy in India involving a baby who got decapitated while being born, as his head was left inside the mother’s womb.
While delivering the child, one of the nurses was said to have “pulled so hard” that the baby was split into two parts last Jan. 6 in a community health center in Ramgarh, reports The Hindustan Times.
The nurse and his colleague, named Amritlal and Junjhar Singh, then deposited the baby’s lower part of the body at the hospital mortuary. They then informed his family to take the woman, Dikhsha Kanwar, to another hospital in the city of Jaisalmer, without informing them of what happened.
Gynecologist Dr. Ravindra Sankhla said that the staff of the health center informed him that the baby’s placenta was still inside the mother’s womb. When he thought something was wrong, he then referred her to another hospital in Jodhpur.
After she was transferred, doctors performed the operation during which they found the baby’s head in the womb and informed the woman’s family. Meanwhile, Kanwar is said to be fighting for her life in the hospital.
