Muslims in Cebu to help secure Sinulog festivities
CEBU CITY–The Muslim community in Cebu has committed to secure the activities of the Sinulog Festival 2019.
“We can assure you, Cebuanos, can enjoy and can sleep without worrying about this Sinulog,” said Imam Najeeb M. Razul, chairman of the council of elders in the Visayas.
He said they were monitoring their communities to check if some suspicious individuals had just arrived in Cebu who might have plans to disrupt the Sinulog festivities.
To show their commitment, Razul and about 60 Muslim leaders went to Camp Sergio Osmeña to meet with officials of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) to discuss Sinulog security preparations.
Around 300 Muslim youth belonging to National Commission of Muslim Filipinos, a Muslim organization in the Visayas, would be deployed to help the police during the Sinulog./lzb
