1 slain, 1 nabbed for drugs in Toledo City shootout
CEBU CITY–One person was killed while another was collared in a shootout that ensued after the police implemented an arrest warrant for illegal drugs charges early Friday morning in Toledo City, about 50 km west of here.
Killed was Remegio Atelio, 53, a resident of Talisay City in southern Cebu. Atelio was the subject of an arrest warrant for peddling of illegal drugs.
Members of the Provincial Intelligence Branch and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of Cebu Provincial Police Office arrested his alleged cohort, Teodolo Inseso, 36.
The police went to their hideout in Barangay Campo 8, Toledo, about 5:30 a.m. to arrest Atelio who was facing charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The operatives claimed that Atelio put up a fight, resulting in a shootout.
Inseso ran and tried to hide but police later arrested him.
Recovered from the hideout were an M16 rifle with ammunition, two .45 caliber pistol, a KG9 submachine gun, and packs of suspected shabu./lzb
