MANILA, Philippines – An election campaign giveaway supposedly from a city councilor caught the attention of Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Rowena Guanzon on Thursday.

“We should have a rule on what materials are prohibited. Those that are obscene or show women as sex objects,” Guanzon said in a Twitter reply to a tweet by the National Citizens’ Movement for Free Elections (Namfrel) regarding the unusual campaign freebie.

“What’s the name of candidate? What city?” she then asked.

On Tuesday, a netizen shared photos of the said campaign giveaway, which was supposedly from a city councilor.

“Inoffer ng friend ko sakin coz it’s not her size. To my surprise may print pala sya sa likod,” Aica Abarabar, who posted the photos, told in a Facebook message on Wednesday.

The Comelec has set the campaign period for senatorial candidates and party list groups from February 12  to May 11, 2019.

Meanwhile, for members of the House of Representatives and elective regional, provincial, city and municipal posts, the campaign period was set from March 30 to May 11, 2019.

Election day is set on May 13, 2019.
