Fire in Digos: P2M damaged, 6 boarding houses razed

DIGOS CITY — A fire razed at least six boarding houses and destroyed some P2 million worth of properties along Roxas Extension near the University of Mindanao Digos College here early Wednesday.

Chief Insp. Joycelyn Grant, city fire marshall, said the fire started at 2:55 a.m. at the dirty kitchen of the compound of the boarding house owned by a certain Danny Agravante.

The houses were made of light and combustible materials.

Grant said no one was hurt as all house occupants woke up when the blaze started.

Fire trucks from the Filipino-Chinese firefighters, Aplaya sub-station and nearby Padada town also helped control the fire which was put off at 4:15 a.m. ORLANDO B. DINOY /lzb
