MANILA, Philippines — More than 9,000 devotees on Tuesday were estimated to be at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila for the ‘Pahalik’ of the Black Nazarene, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said.
As of 10 a.m., the NCRPO said around 9,500 people have participated in the ‘Pahalik,’ which is part of the annual Traslacion celebration.
Devotees had started to line up as early as 6 a.m. to touch and kiss the feet of the Black Nazarene image.
Meanwhile, a total of 2,492 police officers were deployed at the Quirino Grandstand to secure the peace and order of the event.
No untoward incident has been reported.
The weather condition at the venue remains to be fair as devotees wait for their turn at the Black Nazarene. /je
