MANILA, Philippines –  The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Tuesday conducted clearing operations on the route of the Traslacion 2019 in Manila ahead of the annual procession on Wednesday.

The image of the Black Nazarene was brought to the Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park for the annual “Pahalik” at 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Thousands of devotees of the Black Nazarene lined up to kiss and venerate the image.

On Wednesday morning, the image of the Black Nazarene, accompanied by thousands of devotees, will make its way to the streets of downtown Manila before returning to Quiapo Church.

In 2018, the procession from Rizal Park to Quiapo lasted for almost 22 hours. /gsg
