NCRPO issues new reminders for devotees ahead of Traslacion 2019

MANILA, Philippines — Authorities have issued new reminders to devotees of the Black Nazarene ahead of the annual Traslacion on Wednesday.

In a statement issued by National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Guillermo Eleazar on Monday, he advised participants not to bring with them items that can potentially cause harm and danger.

He said the public will be restricted from bringing the following:

bagpacks and valuables
colored beverages or drinks in non-transparent containers
explosives or firecrackers
liquors, illegal drugs
deadly weapons

Wearing headgears or caps are also prohibited.

The NCRPO has earlier enforced a liquor ban starting Monday to avoid any untoward incident from happening.

Eleazar said that 7,200 police officers will be deployed to secure key areas in Manila during the Traslacion on January 9.

“Kami ay umaapela sa mga deboto na sasama sa prusisyon na magkaroon ng mahabang pasensya at disiplina para sa gagawing sakripisyo sa ating mahal na Nazareno (We are appealing to devotees who will join the procession to have patience and discipline and make the sacrifice for our beloved Black Nazarene),” he added. /ee
