MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has expressed readiness for the Feast of the Black Nazarene as it said that it would deploy at least 1,000 of its personnel on Wednesday.
PRC Chairman Richard Gordon said on Sunday that a total of 600 PRC personnel would be manning the route of the procession while 400 of its personnel would be on standby.
Gordon said that 18 first aid stations would be located along the procession route of the Black Nazarene.
Meanwhile, 50 ambulances would be deployed to follow the procession route and be on standby around Metro Manila for this year’s Traslacion.
“Eighteen ambulances deployed on the ground, kada-station, may nakapwestong ambulance, susunod yan hanggang sa susunod na station, tapos iba namang ambulance,” he said in an interview with dzBB.
“Tapos 32 ambulances, bukod doon sa 18, ang naka-standby sa buong Metro Manila na makakalapit ka agad kung may malakihang mangyare,” Gordon added.
As for the safety of the devotees when the procession reaches the Jones Bridge, Gordon said that the PRC will be deploying three rescue boats and one amphibian boat in Ilog Pasig if in case devotees would fall off the said bridge.
The public could also expect the visibility of fire trucks, rescue trucks, and other transportation vehicles would be deployed during the feast day of the Black Nazarene.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority meanwhile said that it would be deploying 850 of its personnel to help police in maintaining peace and order for the upcoming celebration.
