Jan. 6: Kuraldal Festival

The town of Sasmuan in Pampanga province pays tribute to its patron saint, St. Lucy, the patron of blindness.

The healing festival features residents, especially blind and barren women, dancing in front of Sta. Lucia Parish church to pray for their wishes and intentions.

Jan. 6 to 10: Hinugyaw Festival

A festival in the city of Koronadal in South Cotabato province celebrating the city’s cultural diversity and its 79th founding anniversary.

Activities include a trade and agri fair, sports tournaments, farmer’s festival, “musikahan” festival and indigenous people’s day.

Jan. 11: Sinulog Festival kickoff

One of Cebu province’s biggest and most popular festivals opens with a Mass at Basilica Del Santo Niño and a launching parade in Cebu City.

The celebration, an annual dance ritual in honor of the Santo Niño, traditionally lasts for nine days.

Sinulog features fluvial parade, pontifical Mass, procession and a grand parade.
