Gong Cha starts probe on ‘floating cockroaches’ in customer’s drink
MANILA, Philippines — Milk tea beverage company Gong Cha Philippines said it started its own investigation into the concern of a customer who posted on social media a photo of his beverage containing three small cockroaches.
“Recently, however, news has reached us about a post circulating in social media regarding the quality of an item served to one of our customers. Let it be known that we are investigating this matter thoroughly and shall take appropriate action,” the company wrote in a Facebook post on Friday.
The statement came after netizen Nico Yabut complained about the unwanted “sinkers” in his passion fruit tea that he ordered from the Gong Cha milk tea establishment.
As he was about to finish his drink, Yabut was shocked to find three of the insects floating in his drink.
With this, Gong Cha assured their customers that they will “re-double” their efforts in ensuring the highest quality of their product.
“Gong Cha assures its legion of customers that it will re-double its efforts in ensuring the highest quality product in the world enjoyed by hundreds of millions of people worldwide,” the company said.
Gong Cha also asked the “public’s understanding” and will take all matters of their products with “utmost attention and concern.” /jpv
