Cop nabbed for collision that killed tricycle driver in Isabela province

SAN MARIANO, Isabela — A 32-year-old police officer was arrested after his sports utility vehicle collided with a tricycle which killed its driver on Thursday night (Jan. 3) in Barangay (village) Zone 3 here, police said.

Tricycle driver Richmond Gonzales died from head injuries he suffered when he was thrown off after he crashed into the vehicle of Police Officer 2 Jack Tristan Viernes, 32, a San Mariano policeman, said Senior Insp. Frances Littaua, Isabela police spokesperson.

Gonzales died while being treated at the San Mariano District Hospital.

Viernes is facing a charge of homicide due to reckless imprudence. VILLAMOR VISAYA JR.
