2 Negros Oriental cops face raps for cowardice, dishonesty
CEBU CITY – Two police officers face dismissal from service after they allegedly hid during an operation in Negros Oriental to protect themselves.
Chief Supt. Debold Sinas, director of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7), said they would file a case of cowardice and dishonesty against the two police non-commissioned officers.
“They are cowards. They hid when they heard bursts of gunfire,” he said.
Sinas identified the police officers as PO1 Melvin Cañete and PO1 Tomas Cañete—members of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion.
Sinas said the two policemen, who are cousins, did not participate during the One Time, Big Time operation in Negros Oriental last Dec. 27.
“They had lots of reasons. They said they got lost and they fell down the river,” he said.
