Customer finds 3 cockroaches in fruit tea

MANILA, Philippines — A customer has called out the Philippine franchise of a popular regional beverage company after being horrified to find three cockroaches in his drink.

Nico Yabut, who urged Gong Cha Philippines to investigate on the matter, narrated in a Facebook post how he discovered the unwanted sinkers in his passion fruit tea.

According to Yabut, he bought his drink at a Gong Cha branch in Theatre Mall, Greenhills in San Juan and only noticed about the three little bugs just as he was about to gobble up his beverage.

“This afternoon I ordered from Gong Cha PH Gong Cha Philippines in Theatre Mall, Greenhills. The staff then handed me my drink eventually with a sealed straw and all. The drink was really good. But just as I was about to finish the drink, I moved the cup-sleeve to check how much I had left and I was utterly shocked to see 3… yes, 3 LITTLE COCKROACHES in my drink,” he wrote on Wednesday.

Yabut even shared photos and a video, showing the insects in his passion fruit tea with coco jelly drink, to back his claims.

“To the management at GONGCHA PH. You might want to investigate. This is simply unacceptable,” he said.

Following his “disgusting” experience, Yabut advised consumers to always check before drinking and eating ordered drink or food.

“Guys, please do check your orders before drinking/eating them… wouldn’t want this to happen to anyone else,” Yabut said.

INQUIRER.net has asked Gong Cha Philippines for its comment on the issue but has yet to receive a reply, as of this posting. INQUIRER.net will publish the company’s side once it is available. /kga
