Taiwan condoles with people affected by ‘Usman’

MANILA, Philippines  — The government and people of Taiwan have expressed their condolences to the government of the Philippines and the people affected by tropical depression “Usman” which hit the Philippines in the weekend before the New Year.

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the Philippines said in a statement that it has made immediate contacts with relevant disaster management agencies of the Philippines and Taiwanese expatriates and businessmen, to confirm there was no Taiwanese affected.

It said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the TECO in the Philippines will keep contacts with relevant government agencies of the Philippines to monitor the damage and casualties caused by Usman.

To help affected people overcome the adversities and promptly restore their lives back to normal, Taiwan said it is willing to cooperate with the Philippines by providing necessities and assistance specifically required by the affected people.  /muf
