Man dies after being shot in Davao del Sur on New Year’s Eve

DAVAO DEL SUR, Philippines –A 26-year old man who was earlier shot by an unidentified gunman in barangay Poblacion, Magsaysay at about 7:15 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, has died.

Police said Albert Espacio died at around 3 a.m. at a hospital in Davao City on Wednesday, January 2.

Senior Insp. Ivan Samoraga, chief of police, said Espacio was aboard his tricycle on his way home from the public market here when he was shot by the gunman at Purok 3, Barangay Poblacion.

Samoraga said Espacio was immediately rushed to a hospital in Bansalan town but was referred to the Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City for treatment.  /muf
