Village chief gunned down in Abra on New Year’s Eve

BAGUIO CITY — A village chairman was shot dead in the Abra town of Tayum town on Monday, New Year’s Eve.

George Sanidad, 45, chairman of Barangay Gaddani, was tending to his family’s convenience store at 10 p.m. when a man standing outside the shop opened fire, hitting him twice in the back.

Three empty shells from an M16 rifle was recovered at the crime scene.

SPO1 Lenie Turalba said the family of the victim said Sanidad was kind and did not have any enemies.

The police have not yet determined the motive for the attack. /ee
