TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines — The Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) has recorded only four firecracker-related injuries as of 11 a.m. on Jan. 1.
Those injured were identified by police as Clarita Limetares, 26, a resident of Barangay Tinago in Dauis town, who was injured by a “piccolo” firecracker; Joseph Montilde, 18, a resident of Clarin town who was injured by a “5-star” firecracker; Marlon Luzon, 26, a resident of San Miguel town was injured by a “triangle” firecracker and was brought to a hospital in Ubay town for treatment; and Cindy Mae Alitao, 27, a resident of Inabanga town was also injured by a “triangle” firecracker.
The victims sustained minor injuries and were discharged after being treated, police said.
Police said Bohol had a drop in the number of firecracker-related injuries.
Two victims were reported in 2018, three victims in 2017 and one victim in 2016. There were no firecracker-related injuries in 2015. /muf
