Motorcycle thief killed in police chase in Digos City

DIGOS CITY — A man who stole a motorcycle was killed in a police chase on Lapulapu Street here around 4:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Supt. Deozar Almasa, city police director, said Jepoy Andas Talondon, 18, from Malungon, Sarangani province, took the motorcycle of a certain Jennel Cameros parked in front of the Gaisano market around 1 a.m. on Saturday.

Almost two hours later, pursuing policemen spotted him on Cabrillos Street in Barangay Zone 2. Almasa said the suspect left the motorcycle and ran away.

The suspect, however, was armed and had shot PO3 Leodegario Oding on the right knee with a short firearm, prompting the policeman to shoot back, hitting him on the neck and chest.
