MANILA, Philippines — Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Zarate on Friday branded as “bogus” a certain “Ka Danny” who has been spreading “lies and falsities” against the Makabayan bloc calling it part of a “psychological warfare operations” by security forces.
Zarate said “Ka Danny” who claims to be a former “top-ranking” cadre of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) reportedly sent a statement to media during the CPPs 50th founding anniversary saying the CPP “has no chance of winning its revolutionary war.”
He also claimed he was a political officer of three party-list congressmen from Bayan Muna, Anakpawis and ACT-Teachers, and that the three were just fronts of the CPP.
“Let this be a warning to this bogus Ka Danny who is maligning the Makabayan bloc. His lies and falsities will be exposed and he will be held accountable for it along with his hawkish handlers,” he said in a statement.
Zarate said “Ka Danny’s” claims were baseless, as he noted that Makabayan solons have always been attacked by lies peddled by false witnesses like Juliano Alvaro and Julie Flores Sinohin, who previously linked Ka Satur Ocampo, Liza Maza, Ka Paeng Mariano and Teddy Casino, to the killing of Jimmy Peralta on Dec. 23, 2003 and Carlito Bayudang on May 6, 2004, respectively.
All of such trumped-up charges, Zarate said, were proven false.
“In fact, Bayan Muna also held these false witnesses to account through a civil suit against them. Bayan Muna won this case and was later awarded a P380,000 civil damages against these false witnesses for their perjured testimonies on the two murder cases at the Palayan RTC,” said the Davao-based solon.
“It is quite easy for anyone to make such pea-brained claims and besmirch the names of Bayan Muna, Anakpawis and ACT Teachers party lists. Yet, when asked for evidence to prove this clearly frivolous claim, these perjured accusers cannot show anything to prove it; at most they can only fabricate tainted evidence that would not stand scrutiny,” he added. /muf
