Albayalde visits wake of slain Batocabe police aide

LIGAO CITY — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Oscar Albayalde  on Wednesday visited the wake of SPO1 Orlando Diaz, the police escort of Ako Bicol Rep. Rodel Batocabe who was also gunned down in Albay last Saturday afternoon.

He personally handed over the Medalya ng Kadakilaan — PNP’s Heroism Medal, and cash assistance to Diaz’s widow, Juvy.

Diaz and Batocabe were killed while leaving a gift-giving event in Daraga town last December 22.

Albayalde assured the slain policemen’s family that justice will be served soon.

“We are very happy that he (Albayalde) visited us. We were given hope that my husband’s death will 100 percent be given justice,” Juvy said.

She also urged the killers to surrender soon for their own peace of mind. /kga
