2 motorcycle riders killed in Pangasinan at Christmas dawn

DAGUPAN CITY — Two motorcycle riders were killed in separate accidents at dawn on Tuesday, (December 25) in two Pangasinan towns, the Pangasinan police said.

Mike Calpo Orteras, 27, died when his motorcycle collided with a tricycle at 2:30 a.m. at the highway traversing Sampaloc village in Bolinao town.

The crash injured tricycle driver Rodel Imperio, 42, and his passengers Leila Cabanes Imperio, Natalie Tabucol Cabanes, Lalaine Cabanes Imperio and Aeron Cabanes Imperio. The police report did not say if the tricycle occupants were related.

Earlier at 12:45 a.m. in Lingayen town, a motorcycle carrying three people crashed on the road along Baay village when it swerved to avoid a pedestrian, killing backrider Resty dela Cruz, 22.

Dela Cruz was one of the two passengers of the motorcycle driven by Leonard Rosario, 23, who lost control when he tried to avoid hitting the unidentified pedestrian who suddenly crossed the road.
